Creating an ideal client experience won’t happen overnight, but here’s what<\/span>\u00a0I did to make it happen for my photography clients. <\/span>Remember, “ideal”<\/span>\u00a0experiences will vary from creative to creative, because everyone likes to do things a little <\/span>bit differently. But hopefully these strategies will give you a few ideas for going above and beyond to make your clients happy.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Initial Response<\/span><\/strong>
\nThink about how long it takes you to get back to a client: A<\/span><\/span>n hour? 24 <\/span>hours? Days? Well, my response time is one second. Why? <\/span>I have decided that the best way to <\/span>start a relationship with my client is to immediately respond back to them.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I have no idea how <\/span>many photographers they are emailing, and how quickly those photographers are answering, but I know one <\/span>thing: I want to be the best and only option. I outsource these responses to an automated email system that actually <\/span>customizes each response based on the client request. I don’t ever want to miss an opportunity to book a new <\/span>client, and I won’t let being a busy mom stop me.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>I use HoneyBook<\/a>, which allows me to <\/span>customize email templates and automate<\/a> everything.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I was so afraid that it wouldn’t be as personable, but i<\/span>t’s as if I was answering the <\/span>email myself.\u00a0With less stress for me and an organized work\ufb02ow process that my clients can instantly see, this is<\/span>\u00a0the perfect way to start a client experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Never Stop Spoiling\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>
\nI have been asked several times why I send out welcome packets and gifts after I’ve already <\/span>booked the client. I always send out a welcome packet full of things to help them get the <\/span>most out of their experience, like a wardrobe guide and advice on making\u00a0<\/span>the ultimate Pinterest inspiration board.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Just like in any relationship, you should never stop wooing <\/span>them. Plus, every\u00a0<\/span>single time I do something unexpected or above and beyond, my clients are likely to post something <\/span>about it or tell a friend\u2014and this word-of-mouth marketing <\/span>helps my business keep on growing.<\/span><\/div>\n

When I first started my business, I didn’t offer this service. But after having tons of clients tell me that <\/span>the hardest thing about their photo session was picking out outfits and locations, I <\/span>decided that I need to make solving this a top priority.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0During t<\/span>heir Styling Consultation,<\/span>\u00a0we choose makeup, hairstyles, l<\/span>ocations, wardrobe, and so on\u2014we put everything together <\/span>so they’re ready for their big day. I always reassure clients that nothing is set in stone, and that<\/span>\u00a0they are more than welcome to change their mind<\/span>. These consultations help me understand their speci\ufb01c style and personality, so I can\u00a0<\/span>customize their experience further.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
Quality Over Quantity<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\nEach month I take on a maximum of four to six clients\u2014I’m all about quality over quantit<\/span><\/span><\/span>y.<\/span> I can’t <\/span>spend as much time with each girl, get to know them, or provide anything else that they <\/span>might need if I’m taking on 10 to 12 clients a month. It’s just not realistic for me, and it’s not how I <\/span>want to run my business.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>By<\/span>\u00a0taking on a limited amount of clients, I’m able to get their photos <\/span>and products back to them in record time. I tell all my clients that they will get their photos back <\/span>within two weeks, but in reality they get them back in less than 48 hours. The same goes for <\/span>products\u2014I tell clients two weeks, but\u00a0<\/span>they will really receive them within four business days.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I’ve spent<\/span>\u00a0a long time \ufb01guring out my perfect work\ufb02ow, and that benefits both me and my clients.<\/span><\/div>\n

Proo\ufb01ng with a Custom Mobile App<\/span><\/strong>
\nI do not take proo\ufb01ng lightly, and I make sure that my clients see un-watermarked images. (How many of you just <\/span>screamed a little inside?) Each client receives a gallery of fully edited images to look through <\/span>before their premiere ordering session. I know I don’t want a huge watermark to deter me from <\/span>seeing my images, and I know my clients don’t, either. Did I mention that these images are on their <\/span>very own personal mobile app, which they receive within 48 hours of their shoot?\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
