That means HoneyBook can help you figure out if your average project price is highest with clients who find you on Pinterest or those who are referred by a mutual friend.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These details you can uncover with the Reports feature is super helpful information as you\u2019re trying to decide not only <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">what<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> your goals are, but <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">where you need to focus your efforts<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to achieve those goals.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a creative entrepreneur, it\u2019s easy to listen to podcasts and watch Instagram stories that make you feel like you need to be doing ALL. THE. THINGS. When, in all reality, the most progress is made from focusing on the right things and crushing the heck out of them. Reports is a great way to get started with that analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Pro Tip:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> If you don\u2019t have a \u201cwhere did you find me\u201d field on your Contact Form, it\u2019s one of the most helpful pieces of data you can ask for!&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Step 2: Set Goals<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Okay, if I\u2019m being totally honest, I do step 2 ALL THE TIME. I even have what some people might call a \u201ccrazy notebook\u201d where I literally dump <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">so<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> many crazy ideas you might think there\u2019s something wrong with my brain.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/GALLERY-AP5A3467-118-copy-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22688\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There\u2019s nothing wrong with it, it\u2019s just firing on all cylinders most of the time and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">really<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> hard to turn off. Can anyone relate?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The type of goal setting I\u2019m talking about here is a little more intentional. It\u2019s about figuring out where we\u2019ll focus and when we\u2019ll focus on it.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After I analyze the data, I can really sit down and get intentional. I take my big goals like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">more profit, launch a new brand, focus on growing my affiliate team to serve more clients<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8211; and turn those into a little bit more of an actionable plan.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Want more profit?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can\u2019t just wish for it. Where, realistically, is that increased profit going to come from? If it\u2019s coming from the photography side of my business, that means I need to beef up my associate photographer program so that I don\u2019t have to clone myself to reach that goal (Which I\u2019m convinced should be possible at this point, don\u2019t you think?). Just because we have more associates doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019ll automatically book all the weddings we need. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>With that in mind, how will we market? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Based on our data analysis, in the past couple years we\u2019ve had around 50 inquiries come from Facebook, but we\u2019ve had about 2 come from Instagram. That tells me that my photography marketing efforts may be better spent on Facebook.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Launching a new brand, project, or offer?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This takes <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a lot<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of time, friends. More than you\u2019d think. So, first and foremost the goal would be to offload some day-to-day tasks and drop some unimportant or less urgent projects to simply free up time and space for creativity.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The second goal in this process is to set a launch date. Remember, done is always better than perfect. You can always refine something when it\u2019s out into the world &#8211; and it\u2019s usually better that way.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even if you have no idea how you\u2019re gonna launch this thing, or you\u2019ve been dreaming it up for months, do your best to clear time to prioritize the project and set a date.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Growing your team?<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This goal is also a matter of clearing time, too. Bringing on any new team members requires a lot from you if you\u2019re doing it right. I also might spend time really setting the vision for what I want my team to look like, and how I want us to function in the long run to make sure I\u2019m hiring that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">totally right person<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Step 3: Spend Time on What Matters<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is too important of a step to expect that you\u2019ll get it from the sections above. Analyzing the data and setting intentional goals is totally pointless if you don\u2019t use that information to design your days.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your day-to-day tasks should be spent on things that will move the needle &#8211; a.k.a. make visible progress on the goals you\u2019ve just defined.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The tool I use to make this happen is <a href=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/automations\">HoneyBook\u2019s Automations<\/a> function.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/automations\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/HoneyBook-Workflows2-1300x285.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22691\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Image from inside Laura&#8217;s HoneyBook<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>I have approximately 9 automations in HoneyBook&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/workflows\">client workflow automation software<\/a> for my photography business and 5 for my education business.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/automations\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/HoneyBook-Workflows1-1300x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22690\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Image from inside Laura&#8217;s HoneyBook<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">My most intense one? It\u2019s my wedding photography client automation. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s basically a work of art (if I do say so myself). <\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It starts from the moment the wedding is booked, and runs all the way through to the couple\u2019s first wedding anniversary. YEP. It\u2019s 163 steps.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It might sound crazy, but that one workflow is an example of how I serve my clients <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">super stinking well<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">stay top of mind with them during their entire engagement and wedding journey (and in their marriage!)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and the process doesn\u2019t actually need me <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at all<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now, we do have every step set to \u201capprove before sending.\u201d So, nothing is 100% automated. This allows us to delete steps if a couple books with a shorter engagement, if they don\u2019t need a step, etc. BUT, it also allows us to just click, tweak if needed, then send, rather than using actual brain space to communicate almost every other week with our couples.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PLUS, <a href=\"https:\/\/share.honeybook.com\/gSgCg?utm_source=blog&amp;utm_medium=content&amp;utm_campaign=how-hb-helped-laura-neff\">HoneyBook<\/a> is so dang easy and intuitive, I trained my assistant and studio manager, Sydney on it in like 3 seconds. This is actually what I help business owners with at Laura Lee Creative, so come on over if you feel overwhelmed!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Step 4: Maximizing our efforts<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But, how do I <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">scale<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> my business?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I feel like this is a question I hear from countless business owners. First, let\u2019s make sure we know what that super buzzy word means.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SCALING simply means that your business is growing without your time commitment increasing proportionally. So, in other words, a business that can <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">scale<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is one that can spend more time up front and little to no time later, and drastically increase their profit.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The big conversation around scaling is usually \u201cpassive income.\u201d BUT, before you dive into that beast, ask yourself, \u201cHave I scaled my <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">current<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> business model as much as possible?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>You can scale by developing processes and systems.<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As I mentioned before, workflows are your best friend when you\u2019re trying to serve <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">more<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> clients or make room for something different in your business. Workflows allow you to serve everyone <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the same<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, developing brand consistency and a crazy-good client experience.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Pro Tip: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Think about going to Starbucks. No matter where you go in the entire world, you Starbucks drink will ALWAYS taste the same because they have systems down to a science. If they WEREN\u2019T consistent, they wouldn\u2019t have brand loyalty and they\u2019d lose a heck of a lot of repeat customers and referrals.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>You can scale your lead generation.<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Scaling how many inquiries you get doesn\u2019t mean growing your audience (necessarily), it just means doubling down on those referral channels that are actually working. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If we go back to my Facebook vs. Instagram referral example, an hour of my time spent on Facebook will get me a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">much<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> larger return than an hour spent on Instagram. That\u2019s scaling. Same amount of time spent for better results.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>You can scale by increasing your conversion rate.<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So, now you have more inquiries coming in. AWESOME!! But, how many are actually converting?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Getting \u201cghosted\u201d time and again is one of the fastest ways to question your life and career choices.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wanna know my secret weapon? I <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">hardly <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ever get \u201cghosted.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">huge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. My marketing efforts will never go to waste &#8211; ensuring that my time is well spent, but also maximized.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If I\u2019m being totally honest, 2020 already feels like a big, scary year for me. But, through my process of intentional planning&#8211;using HoneyBook as a tool to analyze <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> implement&#8211;I know I won\u2019t be heading into the year blind.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I can\u2019t tell you enough how important it is to go through the core pieces of this process for your own business: Analyze past results, set intentional goals for your business, and streamline + maximize your systems so you can scale.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you take a crack at these three things this January, I just <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">cannot wait<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to see what a breakthrough year you\u2019ll have!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><br><br><em>This post was updated in August 2021 when the HoneyBook Workflow tool was renamed to Automations.
