Should you consider opening?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first step in making your decision about whether or not to reopen is based on the following three questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First, is reopening consistent with state &amp; local orders?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important to be in compliance with state and local orders for your own safety and the safety of your clients, employees (if any) and the general public. We all play an important role in flattening the curve and keeping it that way.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Second, are you ready to protect employees (if any) at higher risk for severe illness?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>People at higher risk for severe illness include older adults, immunocompromised individuals and those with a serious long-term health problem. Make sure your plans for reopening take their needs into consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Third, are you personally ready to reopen?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if state and local orders say it\u2019s ok to reopen\u2014and other vendors, service providers and clients want you to\u2014you don\u2019t have to if you\u2019re not personally ready. Weigh the impact of not opening with reopening on your brand\u2019s reputation, along with the mental, emotional, physical and monetary aspects. You know yourself and your business best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you decide not to reopen yet, and that affects upcoming events you\u2019re contracted for, here are a couple of tips to help make sharing your decision with your community easier:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lean on state and local guidelines in your communications with other vendors, service providers and clients as to why you made the decision you did (if applicable).<\/li><li>Try to ask all parties involved to postpone to a date you feel more comfortable with.<\/li><li>Consider recommending alternative venues or service providers who could step in to take your place.<\/li><li>Review your <a href=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.reliablepenguin.com\/online-contract\">contract<\/a> to determine what to do with retainers and any other money clients have paid thus far.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you answered no to any question above \u2192 Don\u2019t open<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you answered yes to all questions above \u2192 Proceed to step #2<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Are health and safety actions in place?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If reopening your business is compliant with state and local orders; you are ready to protect higher-risk employees; and you are personally ready to do so, the next step is to assess the health and safety practices in your business.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ask yourself: Are the following health and safety actions in place?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Practice healthy hygiene (i.e., hand washing, wearing a cloth face covering, etc.)<\/li><li>Intensify cleaning, sanitization, disinfection and ventilation of equipment and\/or physical spaces<\/li><li>Encourage social distancing and enhance spacing between people through:\n<ul>\n<li>installing physical barriers<\/li>\n<li>changing layouts of communal spaces<\/li>\n<li>encouraging delivery or curb-side pick up<\/li>\n<li>limiting large events<\/li>\n<li>avoiding self-serve stations<\/li>\n<li>etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li><li>Train yourself &amp; employees (if any) on health &amp; safety protocols (Learn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/prevention.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how to protect yourself and others<\/a>)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you answered no to any question above \u2192 Meet Safeguards First<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you answered yes to all questions above \u2192 Proceed to step #3<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.
